Gibbs is the only center in the Carolinas – and one of only nine in the nation – affiliated with the Anderson Cancer Network™. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is one of the largest and most technologically advanced cancer centers in the world. This direct affiliation expands Gibbs’ research capabilities and gives patients access to the newest clinical expertise, next-generation treatments, and investigational research trials.
In addition, each individual physician at Gibbs Cancer Center is credentialed by MD Anderson Cancer Network™, a detailed evaluation process that includes extensive office practice assessments and medical record reviews.
Gibbs is the only comprehensive community cancer center in the Carolinas, one of the first centers selected by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to participate in the Community Clinical Oncology Program, and the only NCI Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP) in the Carolinas.
Gibbs has received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and has earned its highest level of accreditation.
The hematology-oncology physicians at Gibbs have been recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and is the only practice in Upstate South Carolina to earn this national certification. The QOPI® Certification Program provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet the highest standards for quality cancer care.
Gibbs is the first hospital in South Carolina to offer robotic surgery, a minimally invasive surgery that makes recovery both faster and easier. With the most experienced robotic surgeons in the state, Gibbs leads the way in comprehensive robotic solutions.
Gibbs Cancer Center is one of just 12 community cancer centers to earn the Association of Community Cancer Centers’ 2011 Innovator Awards, in recognition of our survivorship program.
Gibbs has earned Magnet® certification from the American Nurses Association.
Gibbs was named the first Hospital of the Future by the U.S. Department of Defense.
